PsycEXTRA Producer

The PsycEXTRA database is produced by the PsycINFO Department of the American Psychological Association (APA). Based in Washington, DC, APA is a not-for-profit scientific and professional organization that represents psychology and is the largest association of psychologists worldwide.

The PsycINFO Department produces a suite of outstanding electronic products. PsycINFO, the premier bibliographic database of scholarly and peer-reviewed documents, is the largest secondary psychology database of journals, books, and chapters. The PsycINFO database contains approximately 1.9 million records with complete bibliographic data to over 1,800 journals, abstracts, indexing, and cited references. PsycARTICLES, APA's journal article database, includes the full text of 50 primary journals in psychology and the behavioral sciences. PsycVIDEO, a fully searchable database, contains written summaries of more than 3,500 videotapes with psychological content and contact information for each video distributor.

The creation of PsycINFO products falls under the direction of the Publisher of the APA and the Senior Director of the PsycINFO Department. An Electronic Resources Advisory Committee provides oversight of both our operations and products, including the development and dissemination of products in electronic form.

Our products are among the most well-used in any library or research setting, often the most widely used on any campus. We are the market leaders in the creation and delivery of psychology information products.
